LEWES RIVERSIDE CLUB: In and Out of Prison by Dick and Joyce Field, 2pm Aug 5 at St Thomas Church Hall, Cliffe.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 6

BISHOPSTONE SUMMER FETE: Starting 12pm, Bishopstone Village Green and in the Parish Hall. The event kicks off with the Pop- Up Choir. Seaford Silver Band, refreshments including bacon rolls, home-made cakes, beer and ice cream. Craft stalls, books, plants, linens, gifts, cakes and preserves, bottle tombola, linens, bric-a-brac and a great raffle. For younger visitors there is a toy stall and tombola, games, face-painting and tattoos and Punch and Judy shows at 1pm and 3pm. Dogs welcome for the fun dog show, (registration 1pm, show 2pm). Donations welcome – books, bric a brac, (not electrical goods or large, heavy articles) toys and games, plants, linens, craft materials, unwanted gifts. NEW NOTE ORCHESTRA: 2.30pm-4.30pm (doors 2pm), £5, St Luke’s Church, Old Shoreham Road, Brighton. A Brighton woman has been named one of the UK’s most exciting new social entrepreneurs and you can see why this Sunday. TV director Molly Mathieson, who lives in Seven Dials, founded New Note Orchestra last year to help musicians in recovery from alcohol and drug addiction. Just 12 months later she has won a prestigious Nesta/The Observer New Radicals 2016 Award. New Note Orchestra will showcase their newly composed piece called ‘Summer’ at this fundraising concert. This event is family friendly with fresh cakes, teas and coffees. Tickets £5 on the door. The orchestra will be joined by jazz pianist Mark Edwards and leading UK kora player Jali.
