Trooper Dale Hedge fulfilled his long-time dream of becoming a member of the Household Cavalry and can now take part in all state ceremonial occasions and events, including being on duty on Horse Guards Parade.

After a challenging 18-week riding course, 26-year-old Dale graduated in a ‘Kit Ride’ last Friday in front of his proud family.

Dale said: “I found the course challenging, exciting, fun but surprisingly hard. It looks quite easy and effortless but there is so much work that goes on behind it.”

Dale was attracted to the Household Cavalry because of the joint role of ceremonial and armoured cavalry, ‘the best of both worlds’.

“It has always been a dream of mine to become a Cavalrymen after watching the Regiment on television and it is a proud thing to do,” he said.

“Guarding the Queen is a honour that you wouldn’t get in any other job.”

A keen cross-country runner and skier, Dale he is eager to represent the Regiment at both of these sports.
