The Chichester Observer has been nominated for a prestigious award

It has been shortlisted in the Weekly Newspaper of the Year category in ‘newsawards 2016’, dedicated to celebrating the best in news media print, technology and business innovation.

Gary Shipton, Editor in Chief, said he was delighted the title had been recognised in this way. “The Chichester Observer campaigns tirelessly for local people - most recently over the plans to reroute the A27. I congratulate the local team of journalists and editors who work so hard to produce an excellent newspaper each week and a superb website every day. This nomination is a huge credit to them – and to the people of Chichester, Midhurst, Petworth, and Bognor Regis who so loyally support us as readers and advertisers.”

Since the first year of the awards, in 1997, more than 100,000 newspaper executives from major national, regional and weekly newspaper publishers have attended the awards together with sponsors, suppliers and industry influencers. This year’s event will be held on April 27 in London.
