A new mobile Post Office service is proposed for two villages

They are among eight rural communities in Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire where the van service could be introduced and you can give your views as part of a public consultation.

The mobile service is a travelling Post Office aboard a specifically designed vehicle that brings Post Office services and retail products to communities without relying on fixed premises.

The proposed services are:

Singleton Mobile Post Office, The Weald and Downland Museum, Singleton, Chichester, PO18 0EU. Proposed opening Monday: 1.45 – 3.45pm.

West Dean Mobile Post Office, outside West Dean Stores, West Dean, Chichester, PO18 0QY. Proposed opening Monday and Friday: 11.30am – 1pm.

Area network manager Sue Whittall said: “Since the temporary closure of the Post Offices for Fittleworth, Headley Down, Liss Forest, Nyewood, Rushmoor, Singleton, West Dean and Wormley, we have continued to work to identify a solution to restore services to these local communities.

“The establishment of mobile services presents the best possible solution to restore Post Office services to these communities.”

The Post Office is now inviting customers and interested parties to give their comments on the plans in a six-week public consultation.

It said in order to restore Post Office services to customers as quick as possible, the new services may start during consultation, on the week starting September 19.

However, this does not affect the period of public consultation which runs until October 6.

During the public consultation, Post Office Ltd welcomes feedback on any issues customers would like considered before a final decision is taken on this proposal.

Submissions can be made during the consultation by Freepost YOUR COMMENTS to Post Office Ltd, via email to [email protected], via the customer helpline on 03457 22 33 44 or textphone 03457 22 33 55.

You can share your views on the proposed move through the new online questionnaire via
