The water level had dropped at a reservoir in Drayton, leaving the animal without enough room to take off.

On Tuesday, October 11, RSPCA officers joined firefighters in using an extended ladder to free the stranded bird.

Marie said: “Ourselves and fire and rescue did a joint operation to rescue the swan and reunite with its mate on a nearby lake.”
