Patricia McLaughlin worked for nearly a year to complete the quilt, which has raised £848 for the charity.

The quilt is of particular significance to Patricia as she is in remission from her second bout of breast cancer.

She said: “Everyone at CancerWise has been so supportive and this is my way of saying thank you. The money raised will go towards the running of the CancerWise Drop In Centre in Basin Road, Chichester and help provide other cancer patients and their families with the same support I received.”

Members of Patricia’s quilting group based in Selsey, the Croft Quilters, helped with the year-long task of making the quilt. Patricia has been quilt making and teaching for more than 25 years after she retired from nursing, and recommends quilting as a very social hobby as well as being therapeutic.

CancerWise provides information, emotional support, complementary therapies and practical lifestyle advice to cancer patients and their families throughout West Sussex and South-East Hampshire.
